BIOGRAPHY

  • G. Byron Holley was born May 27, 1949, in San Jose, California, the son of Elizabeth Thornton and Perry B. Holley. He attended public school in Midland, Texas and graduated from Midland High School, Class of 1968. He loved woodworking, fishing and hunting.
  • Glynn started his tour on December 6, 1969, as a member of the 554th Civil Engineering (Heavy Repair), Red Horse Squadron, 12th Tactical Fighter Wing, 7th U.S. Air Force. Within two weeks he became ill from an insect bite and died at the Phan Rang Air Force Base in Vietnam. He had recently married and was the father of a baby girl according to a former roommate at Elgin Air Force Base in Florida who trained with Airman Holley. According to Jerry Brannon his roommate at Elgin, Glynn had begun to lose his hair before his time, and it was the source of much humor for Glynn.

  • Airman Holley was buried with full military honors at the Resthaven Memorial Cemetery in Midland, Texas. There is no information of a wife other than comments from a buddy in Florida.
