BIOGRAPHY

  • Felix was born in Lamesa, Texas, the son of Virgie Pope and Thomas Ridge. He attended Lamesa schools and graduated with the 1968 graduate of Lamesa High School, having graduated at midterm of the 67-68 school year. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on February 2, 1968, and completed his basic training at Fort Polk, Louisiana. While in the Army, his father passed away and his mother moved to Quanah, Texas.
  • He then completed Advanced Training as a Water Treatment Specialist at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. After a 2 week leave, he started his tour in Vietnam on June 23, 1968. He was assigned to the 606th Engineering Detachment (Independent) under the operational control of the United States Army-Headquarters (USARV).
  • He drown on December 8, 1968, while swimming in an authorized beach area near Tuy Hoa, South Vietnam. His remains were found the following day washed ashore.
  • PFC Felix D. Ridge was buried with full military honors in the Quanah, Texas Memorial Park Cemetery.
